When Avid is activated and new Omf media files have arrived in an OMFI MediaFiles folder by any method (desktop copy or move, or by recording directly to it) the Avid will scan the folder for any changes that may have occurred. See Avid's OMFI MediaFiles Folder.
If Avid encounters a problem during its update scan, the following error warning will appear -
This may happen if -
Any new Omf media file is not correctly formatted or is incomplete.
Any Omf file is NOT an Omf media file, such as an Omf 2 "composition" Omf, or "embedded" Omf
Any other type of file is present.
If this occurs STOP! Something in the OMFI MediaFiles folder is unacceptable to the Avid. The safest thing to do is select 
, and Avid will show an information message -
With this, Avid will move the offending file or files to a sub-directory called "Quarantined Files" within the OMFI MediaFiles folder, isolating the bad files from the Omf media files.
You can recover the file(s) from this directory if you need to, for example, if you have mistakenly moved an important file to the OMFI MediaFiles folder which Avid has rejected . Otherwise, delete them.
