OnePass™ Digitizer
With ‘Native’ Avid Media

Bridging the gap between customer workflows and Avid systems

Read the White Paper

EDLMax introduces Rapid Transit OnePass, a scalable cost-effective digitizing solution for Avid ‘Native’ media. The OnePass digitizer greatly simplifies workflows that incorporate Avid editing systems in multi-vendor environments. Originally designed to serve the high volume digitizing needs of reality TV, RapidTransit supports concurrent digitizing of Avid OMF/MXF media and Quicktime media, with identical, frame accurate timecode. To help decrease staff requirements ONEPASS enables unattended digitizing with timecode break betection, automatic RS-422 VTR control configuration and automatic timecode location.

The Rapid Transit Digitzer has been put to the test on four nationally broadcast reality TV shows. Successfully digitizing 2,000 tapes, 40,000 clips, from DVCProHD, HDCam, Digibeta, SR and analog sources for Avid Media Composers on Avid Unity with Quicktime proxys for transcription and script development.

Designed to maximize interoperability. Rapid Transit OnePass has APIs for customizable metadata, control and data transfer; combined with a UID registry server, soruce registry server, and multi-stream hardware digitizer with support for ‘native’ Avid MXF/OMF. ONEPASS addresses the needs of high volume production by scaling to encode multiple sources concurrently, controlled at one station, or in a SOA environment, integrated into existing workflows. With RapidTransit, delivering Avid media encoding as a service to customers becomes much more cost competitive. Finally large scale digitizing tasks for Avid can be moved out of the editing room.

The Rapid Transit product offers Digitizing of Avid ‘native’ media files within a simple UI. It takes ALE, EDL, OMF or AAF composition as input, and outputs Avid compatible OMF, MXF and AAF files. Metadata essential for an Avid workflow persists in OMF, MXF and AAF files, and will transfer with confidence into Avid bins.

No import, transcode or AMA required. Just digitize to an Avid Media Files folder, and find it in the Media Tool. We make it look easy, for those who know better.
