 Bridging the gap between customer workflows and Avid systems Rapid Transit is a scalable encoding / transcoding application that simplifies the transfer of media and metadata with Avid editing systems in multi-vendor production environments. Rapid Transit offers APIs for customizable metadata, control and data transfer, combined with a multi-stream hardware digitizer / transcoder with support for ‘native’ Avid OMF and MXF. Rapid Transit addresses the needs of high volume Avid production by encode multiple sources concurrently, controlled at one station, or in an SOA environment, integrated into existing workflows. With Rapid Transit, delivering Avid media encoding as a service to customers becomes much more cost competitive, and large scale or routine digitizing tasks can be moved out of the editing room. The Rapid Transit product offers full encoding / transcoding of Avid ‘native’ media files within a simple UI. It takes ALE, EDL, OMF or AAF composition as input, and outputs Avid compatible OMF, MXF and AAF files. Metadata essential for an Avid workflow persists in OMF, MXF and AAF files, and will transfer with confidence into Avid bins. Core Services
